Turkey achieved a remarkable improvement in her macroeconomic indicators -prior to the current global economic downturn. However, despite these positive developments in the economy, Turkey's place in global human development ranking has not changed remarkably. Measures apart from monetary policies are needed to move development beyond economic indicators and to raise the quality of living among wide masses of the society. At this point, we apprehend the importance of investing in young population and supporting youth involvement.

Community Volunteers are taking action to bring both development on the agenda of youth and youth inclusion on the agenda of high-level authorities working in the field of development. The photo competition themed "Development" which is planned to the organized concurrently with the Annual Meetings of International Monetary Fund and the World Bank that will be held in Istanbul on 06-07 October 2009 is intended to draw the attention of active youth and youth organizations to development and share the development perspective of youth with high-level authorities.
